A note to the overwhelmed wife + mother

Woman,

I know. I know how hard it is, to be everything to everyone – what’s left over for you? I know how overwhelming it all is and how hard you’re trying, to give attention to everyone and everything and to ensure that they are all well taken care of.

I’m not here to suggest drastic changes…we ALL know ain’t nobody got time for that! No, instead I’m suggesting little things…small changes you can make, that’ll produce huge results in your household and in your life.

1. Are you seeing beauty where you are, EVERY day?

Does your home or desk have wild or bought flowers, or a picture of a beautiful vista that you can look at and get lost in? At home do you have furniture or china or bed sheets which thrill you with their beauty? Do you follow pages on facebook which will fill your newsfeed with beauty?

2. Do you have a set time for yourself EVERY day?

Even if it’s the 10 minutes that your younger than school aged child would sit without moving, in front a show or game, or maybe it’s taking a walk outside during your lunch hour?

10 minutes to DREAM and think over something that makes you smile and feel immediate joy; can you grab those out of your day, for yourself?

3. Are you practicing gratitude when you awake (but before you open your eyes) in the morning and also as the LAST thing before you drift off at night?

What is there in your life that you are totally ecstatic about? What are you deeply grateful to have? Who in your life could you not function without and what do you have in your life that you know you’re not prepared to live without?

Say thank you and bless them, when you awake and before you drift off to sleep, both times with your eyes closed.

4. Do you stop and HOLD your husband AT LEAST ONCE EACH day?

Whether he is passing by you in the kitchen while you’re preparing dinner, or when he comes into the door on evenings, or perhaps while walking to or from the bus, right before you get into the car, or right after you get out?

What do you just love about that man?

What does he do that makes your life easier? How does he make you feel good? Think about those things while you hold him for those brief moments. Say thank you to him for one of them, even. Make him surprised…make him smile.

5. Do you smile at EACH of your children EVERY day, saying “I Love You” at the same time?

When they have hard days, when you are not around and when you are no longer around, your children will cling to those memories of you smiling at them and letting them know that they are loved.

Take the time to give them and you, that small but powerful gift. Make the time to give them the gift of your loving attention and your mommy smile, that brightens up their world.

6. Do you play music you love and sing along from youtube or the radio, while you sit in traffic or do housework or cook?

Music is food for the soul. Music we love lifts our spirits and makes our hearts sing. Singing or humming along to music that we love releases endorphins which improve our mood and have awesome impact on our bodies, in the moment.

Go ahead, enrich your life and love up your heart and your body – listen to your favourite music, and sing or dance along!

There you go – 6 little changes that will rock your world!!
BE Magic + Joy every day.
